Privacy Policy
Tonal Explorer · Last updated: 18 June 2026
Tonal Explorer does not collect, store, or share any personal information. This policy applies to both the website (tonalexplorer.com) and the iOS app.
Information we collect
None. Tonal Explorer has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking. We do not collect names, email addresses, location, device identifiers, or usage data.
Microphone
The built-in chromatic tuner uses your device’s microphone to detect the pitch of notes you play. Audio is analyzed in real time, entirely on your device. It is never recorded, saved, or transmitted anywhere, and the microphone is only active while the tuner is running. You can decline or revoke microphone access at any time in your device settings; only the tuner feature requires it.
On-device storage
Your preferences — such as which panels are visible and how they are arranged — are saved locally on your device (in the browser/app’s local storage) so the app remembers your setup between sessions. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us. Clearing the app’s data or your browser storage removes it.
Shareable links
When you create a share link, the current key, mode, and scale selection are encoded directly into the URL. These links contain only musical settings — never personal information.
Children’s privacy
Tonal Explorer is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
