The B major scale — also called B Ionian — contains the notes B, C#, D#, E, F#, G#, and A#.

Its diatonic chords are I (B), ii (C#m), iii (D#m), IV (E), V (F#), vi (G#m), and vii° (A#dim).

The major scale — known in modal terms as Ionian — is the bright, resolved sound most Western melodies are built on. Its chords centre firmly on the tonic, giving music a settled, "home" feeling.
